As a Teacher and Coordinator for the Support Teaching Program at Eryuan County Primary School from December 2018 to January 2019, I focused on enhancing the English teaching experience for students and staff across four schools in the county. The Support Teaching Program was conducted in affiliation with the Miyuan Youth Volunteer Team of UM-SJTU Joint Institute (JI).
Program Overview
The Support Teaching Program aimed to improve the quality of English education for over 800 students by researching and implementing innovative teaching methods. The project was supported by the Miyuan Youth Volunteer Team of UM-SJTU Joint Institute (JI).
Responsibilities
During my time with the program, I took on the following responsibilities:
- Researching effective English teaching methods and strategies to better engage students.
- Developing and implementing new lesson plans and curricula.
- Training teachers in the new teaching methods and providing ongoing support.
- Coordinating between the four schools involved in the program to ensure a consistent learning experience.
- Assessing the success of the program through student performance and feedback.
- Improving students’ spoken English and pronunciation.
- Collaborating with teachers on incorporating modern technology, such as internet resources, computer videos, and other digital tools to enhance teaching quality.
- Contributing to the design of the final English exam, which demonstrated significant improvement in students’ English proficiency.
Outcomes and Achievements
The Support Teaching Program at Eryuan County Primary School led to several notable achievements:
- Improved English proficiency among students in the participating schools.
- Increased student engagement in English classes.
- Enhanced teacher confidence in implementing new teaching methods and techniques.
- Fostered collaboration and knowledge sharing between the four schools.
- Boosted students’ spoken English and pronunciation skills.
- Successfully integrated multimedia education into the teaching process.
